Update your nameservers

Updated June 4, 2026

Nameservers decide which provider answers DNS queries for your domain. To use a third-party host, replace Orbit's default nameservers with the ones your host gives you.

  1. 1Open the domain in your dashboard and find the nameservers section.
  2. 2Remove the existing nameservers and enter the ones provided by your host (usually two or more).
  3. 3Save your changes.
Changing nameservers moves all DNS for the domain to the new provider. Any DNS records kept only at Orbit will stop applying until you recreate them at the new host.

DNS changes are not instant. Allow up to a few hours for the change to propagate worldwide, occasionally longer depending on cached values.
