How to register a domain

Updated June 4, 2026

Registering a domain with Orbit takes only a few minutes. Here is the full flow from search to a live domain.

  1. 1Enter the name you want in the search bar — just the word (e.g. “myidea”) or the full domain (e.g. “myidea.com”).
  2. 2Review availability and live pricing across extensions. Available names show a price and an “Add to cart” button.
  3. 3Add the names you want and open your cart, then proceed to checkout.
  4. 4Provide your registrant contact details (required by ICANN) and accept the registrant agreement.
  5. 5Pay securely with card. Once payment is confirmed, your domain is registered with the registry.
Searching for a name does not reserve it. A name is only yours once payment is confirmed and the registry accepts the order.

What happens next

Most registrations are active within minutes. Your new domain then appears in your dashboard with managed DNS, free WHOIS privacy where supported, and renewal reminders ready to go.
